Make own tempeh
It is very easy and rewarding to make tempeh at home. All you need are some soybeans, a bit of tempeh starter and a warm place to incubate.

Recipe ingredients

 150 g tempeh, cut in slices
 oil for deep-frying
 2 tsp garlic powder
 5 Tbs water
 1 Tbs assem
 salt and pepper to taste

Recipe directions

To make the marinade combine the assem, water, garlic powder and salt and pepper.

Put the tempeh slices in the marinade and allow to soak for 30 minutes. Drain the tempeh.

Heat the oil to 190°C and deep-fry the tempeh until crisp and golden brown.

Serve immediately with chili sauce or soy sauce.
